The cord should be made of copper or braided copper wire; if not, an extension will be needed that fits over it. The outer jacket needs to be connected directly with this extension; otherwise you won’t be able to score for points!

The strips at either side of the piste are called side strips.
Side strips are used to keep the fencers in line, and also show the judges when a hit is made. They can be either white or blue, depending on what color is being used for each side of the piste. If you know anything about fencing, you’ll know that this means that if your opponent has scored a point against you (and he/she does), then you’ll see a white stripe appear on both sides of your strip before their own strip changes color as well.
You will also see white or blue stripes appear at various points on each side strip, depending on whether it’s an attack or defense by either side; these indicate which one of two hits was successful during that particular action phase:

The body cord is also connected to the scoring box so that you can tell how many points you’ve made. When you make a hit, a circuit is created between your foil and the scoring box; when this happens, lights will light up on the box to show how many points have been scored When a fencer makes a hit, the strip will change color to show that they have scored a point. If it’s white on both sides, then neither side scored; if it’s blue on both sides, then your opponent got the point.
If there is only one stripe on each side of the strip (or just one), then you’ve made a successful attack or defense and scored against your opponent The jacket and breeches should be worn in the same color. The white jacket is considered as a standard uniform for foil and épée fencing, but it is not mandatory. two or more judges may be required for a bout.
If a judge is present in the ring, they may be used to help determine if a hit was valid. For example, if two fighters are fighting and one fighter scores an easy takedown on his opponent and then pins him down with an arm-bar submission move, it’s likely that he won. In this case, the judges will look at the clock and see how long it took for him to secure his position before submitting him—they might say “This was not done quickly enough” or “This move could have been done earlier.”
If there are no clear winners from these two bouts, then another round should occur between them both again so that someone can officially walk away as winner of these matches (or loser).

The judge is responsible for deciding if it was a valid hit or not. The judge will use their judgement to decide if that was the valid hit or not. They will use their own opinion to decide if it was a valid hit or not Judges are often used in professional boxing as well, although they have more of an impact in MMA because there is no rule stating that a “KO” has to occur for someone to win.
In boxing, judges use the same criteria for determining who won a fight as they do in MMA: number of punches thrown and landed; number of knockdowns scored; number of takedowns taken; time spent on top during ground fighting; and so forth. If the judges cannot reach agreement, then the fight ends up being decided by split decision or majority rules…
